"The Diary"
This painting was an offshoot of sketches from "The Menu".
I experimented with many backgrounds. When I finally decided to mimic the chair pattern and create windows behind the model, I tried many angles of reflected images and finally decided to cheat and allow the viewer to see through the glass to a study with a book, lamp and chess board.

The scene was sketched at Stanford University and finished in my studio.

Purple (more like magenta) is the dominant color in this work, followed by its
complementary yellow. Next is orange and blue with just a smattering of red and green.

Below - The final painting. There is a lot of yellow (especially in what appears to be the "white" areas).
