"Rancho San Antonio"
This painting is a compilation of photos and sketches from various California hikes in Rancho San Antonio.
I just love the contrasts in the park in the summer, when the grasses dry and turn various colors of gold, gray and red,
In this painting, the early morning fog is still creeping over the mountains, and the sun is bright overhead.
The lone oak tree at the left has all of its new leaves, as do the various shrubs and oaks in the valley.
I've painted many other Rancho San Antonio landscapes, but this is the most realistic attempt.
It's the first one that has given me the feeling that I'm really there, in the park.
