"Street Dancers"

Street Dancers thumb

This is a total studio painting that I was inspired to create. The setting is a cobblestone street

somewhere in Europe. The male dancer in the center of the painting is another self-portrait.

I just wanted to have a scene to look at in my studio that made me feel good.

I never had any intentions of selling it although I have shown it at the International Art Expo.

It presently hangs on the wall of my studio to the right of my easel. I love to look at it and imagine that I am there.

The woman dancing with me is no one in particular. If I painted it again today, it would be my wife, Judith.

I have painted over her face, no less than a dozen times. I originally had her eyes closed,

a dreamy look that appealed to me in my youth. I finally ended with a thoughtful look,

an expression for the viewer to ponder.

I also painted over the woman in red's face a few times.

Originally, she had her head flipped back, and was roaring with excitement!

Again, I opted for a pose that invited more questions.

The other couples are as I painted them back in the 1980,s.

I've always liked dancing, especially when it is spontaneous.

This is a scene that makes me happy!.

This close-up best shows the layers of paint - applied with a palette knife.

The sweater is an entire study of complementary colors.

The whole rainbow is contained from left to right!
